I’m a board-certified psychiatrist and an assistant professor of psychiatry at the Zucker School of Medicine, with advanced training in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. I have more than seven years of experience helping New Yorkers navigate life and mental health challenges through consultation, psychotherapy, and use of medication.
I completed my medical degree at Shahid Beheshti Medical University, followed by two years of a postdoctoral fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. I then completed my psychiatry residency at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn. Following my residency training, I completed three years of psychotherapy training at the Psychoanalytic Association of New York (affiliated with NYU School of Medicine), where I am currently a candidate in psychoanalysis.
Beyond my private practice, I am an attending psychiatrist at the Zucker Hillside Hospital, where I work part-time in the Adult Outpatient Clinic and Early Treatment Program. In addition to my clinical work, I teach and supervise psychiatry residents and medical students. I am actively involved in clinical research and have published more than 20 peer-reviewed articles, as well as presented at both local and international scientific conferences. Most recently, I serve as principal investigator on an NIH-funded project developing a smartphone application that implements psychotherapy techniques to address motivational difficulties in patients with severe mental illness.
I offer both in-person sessions at my Midtown Manhattan office—just two blocks from Grand Central—and telepsychiatry. If you’d like to see if we’re a good fit, I invite you to reach out for a free 15-minute phone consultation.
